The Department of Civil Engineering at REC Basti was established with the vision of producing skilled engineers who can contribute to nation-building through sustainable and innovative infrastructure. The department offers a B.Tech program with an annual intake of 60 students and is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow.

With a strong emphasis on practical knowledge and industry exposure, the department is equipped with well-established laboratories covering Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Transportation Engineering, and Surveying. Students receive hands-on experience through fieldwork, lab experiments, and project-based learning, allowing them to bridge the gap between classroom concepts and real-world applications.

The department actively encourages students to participate in live projects, technical workshops, site visits, and consultancy assignments. This real-time engagement equips students with a better understanding of construction practices, material testing, site management, and design techniques.

Graduates from the Civil Engineering department have excelled in state and national-level competitive exams such as GATE, UPSC IES, and State Engineering Services. Many students have also gone on to pursue higher education in premier institutes and contribute to infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors.

The department is also fostering a culture of research and innovation. Students have received funding for their innovative ideas from organizations such as the Council of Science and Technology (CST), Uttar Pradesh, enabling them to work on real-world challenges. Through its academic rigor and community-driven initiatives, the Civil Engineering department at REC Basti aims to be a leader in sustainable and impactful engineering education.
