The Department of Electrical Engineering at REC Basti is committed to cultivating highly skilled and industry-ready professionals in the field of electrical and power systems. The department offers a B.Tech program with an annual intake of 60 students, under the affiliation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow.

The department emphasizes a balanced approach to theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. It houses modern laboratories in areas such as Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Power Electronics, and Measurements & Instrumentation. These facilities help students gain core competencies in design, analysis, and application of electrical systems.

To enhance industry readiness, the department organizes industrial visits, training programs, workshops, and guest lectures in collaboration with reputed organizations. Students regularly participate in technical fests, mini-projects, innovation challenges, and internships, developing problem-solving skills and practical exposure.

Electrical Engineering students from REC Basti have shown commendable performance in GATE, State Engineering Services, and other PSU exams, securing placements and admissions into IITs, NITs, and top research institutes. Many students also publish research papers and take part in interdisciplinary projects, showcasing the department’s emphasis on applied research and innovation.

In recent years, the department has made notable strides in community-focused and industrial collaboration projects. Students have received funding from the Council of Science and Technology (CST), Uttar Pradesh, for innovative energy and sustainability-related research projects—reinforcing the department’s commitment to renewable energy, smart systems, and technology-driven societal impact.
